Systematic Synthetic Phonics 🤩: Our pre schoole

Systematic Synthetic Phonics 🤩: Our pre schoolers took part in a systematic synthetic phonics activity which saw them recognise familiar sounds in different words, such as the ‘at’ sound.

The children were able to use their skills to search for the missing letters from the words and could share what letters they had found with their friends!

This shows their use of literacy, communication and team work! Well done pre school #eyfs #literacy #communication #phonics 🌈🐻

The children in the grizzly bears continued the summer theme by exploring the seaside 🏖️ . They had a tuff tray set up with a seaside theme, using blue tissue paper for the sea 🌊 and sand on the beach 🏝️ . The tray was filled with 🪣 , Spades, beach toys and ducks 🐥. The children were encouraged to use the spades to fill up the pots, with words like “scoop”, “fill” and “empty” being used to guide them in the activity. As the children played with the sand, we described how it felt using words like “soft”, “fluffy” and “cold” 🥶
All the children took part in the activity and really enjoyed their time pretending to be at the seaside 🌈🐻 #eyfs #summer #communication #language #finemotorskills #imagination

Our Polar Bears Room took part in a crafting activ

Our Polar Bears Room took part in a crafting activity. They used cut-up straws, coloured tissue paper, cotton wool balls, and sparkly pom-poms to make collages. With the help of a glue spatula, they applied glue to the paper and then selected materials to decorate their own unique creations. This activity helped the children develop their fine motor skills. 🖼️ 🎨 #eyfs #expressiveartsanddesign #finemotorskillactivity 🌈🐻

We set out an activity on our tuff tray for the children to explore various textures and tastes. As the weather is brightening up we based our tuff tray on a summer activity ☀️ We used edible items for the children to taste. The ice cream cone was made out of rice krispies, the ice cream was meringue 🍦.

We then put out ice cream cones around the tuff tray and sprinkles in a bowel for the children to make their own ice creams. We called it the ‘Bonnie Bear Parlour.’ ☀🍦

We continued our summer theme by setting up a tuff tray with ducks, 🦆 water 💦 bubbles 🫧 and different brushes. We sang ‘5 Little Ducks’ as the children used the brushes paint 🧹 to mark make and create shapes in the tray. We encouraged them to make circles, bubbles, water shapes, and swirls. This activity helped the children develop their fine motor skills while enjoying themselves 🦆🐥 #eyfs #markmaking #finemotor

Our children went outside to enjoy the sunshine and we set up a balancing beam for them to play with. It was lovely to see how much they enjoyed using their imagination during this activity. Children added a toy dinosaur to the mix as their own interest took over, sparking imaginative play as one child exclaimed “Oh no, dinosaur!” and pretended to stumble into it. Our Bonnie Bear children had a great time in the soft play area. They had fun climbing up the soft stairs and sliding down. We used words like ‘up’ and ‘down’ to describe their movements. The children played together, taking turns to use the slide. They also had a good time in the ball pit, counting the balls as they threw them in and out. #eyfs #physicaldevelopment #mathmatics #communication #grossmotorskills #sensory 🤩

During our afternoon activity, we had a ‘Colours

During our afternoon activity, we had a ‘Colours of the Rainbow’ theme 🌈
The children paired colours with different shapes. We showed the shapes to the children and asked them to identify each shape. Afterwards, We showed them a piece of Duplo and asked them to name its colour 🌈…We then matched the Duplo to the corresponding colour of the shape. Lastly, we sang ‘Colours of the Rainbow’ while involving all the children. 🎶 🟥 🟠 #eyfs #colours #communication #language

The children enjoyed exploring our lion tuff tray this afternoon, the children got involved by feeding the lion and decorating the lions mane using the orange food coloured rice krispies. We also sang “Leo the lion.” 🦁 #worldlionday #eyfs #finemotorskills

The children really engaged and took turns with the paintbrush and was able to use pincer grasps to hold the paintbrush to make marks.

Continuing with our book of the month “Dear Zoo”, We have created a tuff tray for the children to explore using zoo animals and some cereals. We asked the children some questions like “What can you see?”, “What can you hear?”, and “What can you smell?” to let the children’s imagination run wild and to see what answers they give to the questions we ask. 🐘🐆🐒

We recently focused on our ‘under the sea’ theme with a beach tuff tray. The children had fun scooping up rice crispies acting as sand to build ‘sandcastles’. We sang songs like ‘1 2 3 4 5 Once I Caught a Fish Alive’ and ‘Row Row Your Boat’. It was a great opportunity to count the octopus’s legs and work on our counting skills. #numeracy #eyfs #communication #sensory 🏖️ 🚤 🐠

As the Paris Olympics 2024 are starting this weeke

As the Paris Olympics 2024 are starting this weekend we have been creating our very own Olympic torches. 🔥

We used tissue paper and PVA glue to glue and stick to their papers.

The children used pincer grasp to pick the tissue paper and glue sticks up and moved them around the paper. 📄

We cannot wait to carry on with our very own Olympic games over the next few weeks. 🌈🐻
